Exam 70-648 is an upgrade exam that is a composite of two stand-alone exams: 70-640 and 70-642. Exam 70-648 validates skills related to the core technology features and functionality of Windows Server 2008, from the existing knowledge base of a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Windows Server 2003. The key topics for each source exam, plus the percentage of material per topic for each exam, are noted in the following lists. This exam prepares you for various job roles, which include Windows developer, Web developer, and Enterprise developer.
The exam is appropriate for you if you are working or want to work in a typically complex computing environment of medium-to-large organizations that use Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Enterprise Developer or Visual Studio 2005. There are no specific prerequisites for this test, although it is recommended that you should have at least three to four years of experience in Windows-based application development.
Microsoft’s 70-294 test is designed to measure your ability to plan implement and maintain a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory infrastructure. It tests your skills that include Planning and Implementing: an Active Directory Infrastructure and User, Computer, and Group Strategies. You can also validate your knowledge in Managing and Maintaining an Active Directory Infrastructure, Planning and Implementing Group Policy and Managing and Maintaining Group Policy. Upon passing this test you will become a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). Passing this test will also help you in achieving the MCSE 2003 certification.
When you pass the Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure exam, you achieve Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) status. You also earn credit toward the following certifications:
